Questions

How many sheets do I need for a bookshelf?

A 800 × 1800 × 300 mm version in 18 mm board fits on one 2440 × 1220 mm sheet: 2.44 m² of board and about 8.2 m of edge banding. The 3 mm HDF back is cut from a separate thin sheet.

How wide can a bookshelf shelf be without sagging?

For 18 mm chipboard loaded with books about 750–800 mm; MDF a bit less, plywood more. Over that use a divider, a thicker board or a front edge strip.

What depth is best for books?

250–300 mm suits almost all books; 350 mm if you also want folders or boxes.
